Vault AI Releases

An “AI release” is a release that contains features for Vault AI that may include new AI agents, enhancements, model updates, or minor adjustments. We apply these changes to General Release Vaults, and we communicate these changes on the day of the release.

AI releases are named using the format AI.YYWW, where YY represents the two-digit calendar year and WW represents the calendar week of the deployment. For example, AI.2642 refers to the AI release deployed in week 42 (mid-October) of 2026.

Vault CLI PlatformDeveloper

Vault CLI is an official, product-supported command line interface (CLI) for Veeva Vault. Vault CLI manages configuration, data, files, and instances. As a CLI, it has no GUI and is designed for power users, developers, scripting, and automation.

Vault CLI runs as Headless: Manual updates for tools, scripts, and power-users.

Users can authenticate through the browser or with an API access token. Browser authentication uses Vault as an OAuth server, just like Vault Mobile. It does not require API permission but customers can opt out.

Vault CLI releases on the AI Release schedule, and works on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Extend AI Tab to Call Custom Subagents Platform

Allows customers to configure the Super Agent Chat Action (AI Tab) to use custom agents as tools (subagents). This ability allows users to handle customized use cases from the AI Tab.

Tool Call Invoking Agent Actions PlatformDeveloper

Vault now supports tool calling an agent action, enabling AI agents to invoke other agent actions (sub-agents) as tools during LLM-driven orchestration. This capability supports both a programmatic Vault Java SDK approach for maximum flexibility and a zero-code configurable tool type for simple scenarios.

There are two ways to achieve this:

• Programmatic (Java SDK): Developers implement AiToolTypeRuntimeHandler to invoke one or more agent actions asynchronously within a tool call, with full pre/post-processing control.
• Configurable Agent Action Tool Type (UI/MDL): Admins configure a tool by selecting an agent and agent action, without the need for code. This supports custom objects and documents.

Query Agent Enhancements: API/MCP PlatformDeveloper

Query Agent and Vault AI metadata enhancements expand the Query Agent’s capabilities by enabling Vault API and MCP access, improving data display, enriching metadata, and optimizing token efficiency.

The benefits include:

• Enables Query Agent via Vault API and MCP (non-interactive mode) for programmatic access
• Delivers user-friendly, localized data display through automated VQL post-processing
• Reduces token consumption and latency via tool response history optimization
• Enriches agent context with object types, document lifecycles, and a new knowledge base object

AI Metadata Enhancements for Safety Objects Safety

Additional AI Metadata for Safety objects related to Case and Product has been introduced to improve agent understanding of the Safety data model.

AI Metadata for Products in Vault Medical Medical

Adds semantic metadata for the product__v entity to improve handling of product, brand, therapy, or device questions from the AI Tab.

AI Metadata for Product Entity in PromoMats Commercial

Adds metadata entity for product__v to make product, brand, therapy, device referenceable for AI Tab requests.

Query Agent Enhancements: List View Platform

The Query Agent has been enhanced to return additional fields based on the object list view configuration. This provides additional information about records for the user and improves the capabilities to respond to followup questions without needing to run a second query.

Enhanced AI Tab Record Detail Retrieval Tool Platform

Enhanced the record retrieval tool, used by the AI Tab super agent, to retrieve multiple record details with a single call. Reduces tool calls to improve AI Tab performance.

AI Metadata for Object Types Platform

Vault AI Metadata has been enhanced. With this feature, AI Entities can now be defined for Object Types. Provides semantic descriptions of object types and fields to improve the understanding of AI agents.

AI Metadata Support for Document Lifecycle Platform

AI Picklist metadata now supports document lifecycles allowing users to define semantic descriptions for document lifecycles and lifecycle states.

Additional standard known questions for Safety, Medical, and QualityOne. Improves performance, token utilization, and capability of AI Tab.

Optimized Query Execution Platform

Known or simple questions that result in a Vault query will be answered using an optimized query tool with improved performance and lower token utilization. Novel or more complex queries will continue to be handled by the more capable Query Agent.

Increase Agent Trace Detail Limits Platform

To facilitate custom agent development and troubleshooting, the number of trace detail logs retained for a given Agent Trace has now increased from 5 to 20 in AI Chat and from 20 to 50 in Admin Log > Agent Traces, reducing the need to frequently reset Agent Traces.

Query Agent Enhancements Platform

The Query Agent has been updated to deliver faster response times and more efficient token usage.

Increased Related Record Limit for Base Object Chat Agent Platform

The Base Object Chat Agent now includes up to 250 related records in its context, an increase from the previous limit of 25, and also includes the total count of related records. This expanded capacity provides the agent with a more complete data picture when analyzing records with numerous relationships.

AI Metadata Enhancements for Platform Objects Platform

We are introducing additional AI Metadata for Platform objects related to connections, glossary, language, permissions, persons, roles, and reports to improve agent understanding of the Platform data model.
